Altar of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

At the exit of the Chapel of San Sebastián and close to the main door of the temple we find an altarpiece in which the modern image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is venerated, as well as two ancient carvings of San Francisco de Asís and Santo Domingo de Guzmán. . This neoclassical altarpiece originally belonged to the Third Order of the Servites that had its headquarters in our Parish from 1667 until its disappearance in the first decades of the 20th century. The image of Our Lady of the Knives was venerated in it, a small-format carving, a copy of the Virgen de las Angustias by Juan de Juni, which today is located on one side of the Main Chapel. The Servite tertiaries played a very important role in the life of the Parish, to the point that they placed their titular image: Our Lady of Mercy (a baroque work by the sculptor José Ratés y Dalmau, from 1671), no less than on the tabernacle the temple, in the central street of the main altarpiece of the church.
